DHAKA, Sept 10, 2026 (BSS) - A fire that broke out on the rooftop of a four-storey building beside the British American Tobacco Bangladesh office in Dhaka’s Mohakhali area was brought under control. 

The fire started at around 11:11am in discarded plastic materials kept on the rooftop of an old building was doused after half an hour’s effort at 11:40am, Fire Service media officer Talha bin Zasim told BSS.  
 
Three units from the Tejgaon Fire Station responded to the incident and worked to contain the blaze. “The fire has been brought under control and there is no risk of it spreading further,” said Talha. 

A high-voltage electrical substation is located on the third floor of the building. No fire spread to the substation was reported.
