DHAKA, Sept 09, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today showed former chief whip ASM Feroz arrested in separate cases filed with Jatrabari Police Station over murder and attempted murder during the July 2024 Mass Uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farzana Haque passed the order as police produced the former Patuakhali-2 lawmaker before the court and pleaded to show him arrested in the two cases. 

According to the case documents, protester Naim Howlader, 17, was shot dead allegedly by the accused in the Jatrabari Police Station area of the capital on July 19, 2024, during the July Mass Uprising. A murder case was filed with Jatrabari Police Station on August 24, 2024, over the incident.

Besides, protester Tarek Chowkidar, 24, was allegedly injured by gunfire by the accused in the same area on the same day. An attempted murder case was filed with Jatrabari Police Station on March 26, 2025, over the incident.

Police arrested ASM Feroz from the capital's Banani area on August 23, 2024, and he has been shown arrested in several cases lodged over crimes committed during the July 2024 Mass Uprising.
