KHULNA, Sept 6, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Abdullah Harun today said Khulna is a disaster-prone region, particularly vulnerable to cyclones and earthquakes.

“Alongside the government, we will work for the people of the region to face disasters,” he said while presiding over a meeting of the Divisional Disaster Management Committee held at the conference room of the Khulna Divisional Commissioner’s Office this afternoon.

He stressed the need for coordinated initiatives to effectively tackle natural disasters. He also directed the authorities concerned to keep cyclone shelters ready and undertake programmes to raise public awareness about disaster preparedness.

Additional Divisional Commissioner Abu Sayed Md Manzur Alam, Divisional Director of Health Dr Md Mosharraf Hossain, Police Superintendent Md Sajjadur Rahman Russell of the Range DIG Office, officials of different government departments, and representatives of the Cyclone Preparedness Programme (CPP), Scouts and Rover Scouts, among others, attended the meeting.
