BOGURA, Sept 1, 2026 (BSS) - The 48th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is being observed in Bogura through colourful programmes, social activities and political events.
Bogura district BNP and its affiliated and associated organisations have taken various programmes throughout the day to mark the anniversary.
The day's programmes began in the morning with the hoisting of the national and party flags at the district BNP office. Later, at 7.30am, party leaders and activists paid homage to the portrait of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
Bogura district BNP Office Secretary Advocate KM Humayun Kabir told BSS that a tree plantation programme was held at the Sakharia Alim Madrasa premises in Sadar upazila at 10am, followed by the release of fish fry into a nearby water body at 11am.
A special doa mahfil was held after Zuhr prayers at Baitur Rahman Central Jame Mosque in the city.
Speaking at the tree plantation programme, Bogura-6 (Sadar) constituency lawmaker and district BNP President Rezaul Karim Badsha said Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman had restored multiparty democracy and turned the BNP into a party of the people by bringing about revolutions in the agriculture,
textile and fisheries sectors.
Meanwhile, the party's affiliated and associated organisations have taken separate programmes.
A football tournament organised by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal was held at Altafunnese Playground at 3pm. The city BNP brought out a colourful procession from Shaheed Khokon Park at 4.30pm, while Bogura Sadar upazila BNP organised a procession and rally at Matidali Airport intersection at 5pm.
As part of the week-long programme, a discussion meeting organised by Bogura district BNP will be held at Shaheed Titu Auditorium in the city at 4pm on September 4 (Friday).
