GAIBANDHA, Sept 1, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Religious Affairs Mohammad Shamim Kaisar Lincoln today said the National July Charter would be implemented to the letter, while stressing that the incumbent government is taking the country forward on the path of development from a “bottomless basket”.

“The government that was ousted after 17 years in power destroyed the country’s economy . . . All problems will be resolved, but we need to have patience for some times,” he told a gathering at the Gaibandha district BNP office this afternoon, marking the 48th founding anniversary of the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

The state minister claimed that all political parties had negative positions and roles in 1971, 1990 and 2024, while the BNP had always played a positive role.

He urged BNP leaders and activists to forge unity ahead of the upcoming local government polls, setting aside all differences for victory.

Earlier, a colourful rally was brought out to mark the founding anniversary. Starting from the district BNP office, the rally ended at the Islami High School ground after parading the main streets of the town.

BNP leaders and activists from different units of the party and its affiliated and associate organisations from all seven upazilas of the district joined the rally.

Among others, reserved women’s seat MP Momtaz Alo, BNP Rangpur divisional organising secretary Aminul Islam, district BNP general secretary Mahmudunnabi Titu, BNP municipality unit president Shahiduzzaman Shahid and Jubo Dal president Ragib Hasan Chowdhury spoke at the rally.
