RAJSHAHI, Sept 1, 2026 (BSS) - Rail communication between Rajshahi and the rest of the country has returned to normal two and a half hours after the railway track broke in Bagatipara, Natore.
 
At that time, at least 6 trains were stranded at Abdulpur and Rajshahi stations, causing extreme suffering to passengers.
 
On Tuesday at around 6:30 am, the break was detected near railway pillar No. 227/0 adjacent to Lokmanpur station in the upazila.
 
Railway authorities said that when the break was detected during a routine inspection, they quickly informed the higher authorities.
After receiving the news, railway workers reached the spot and started repair work.
 
During this time, all rail communication with Rajshahi was suspended.
As a result, Sagardari Express, Titumir Express, Banalata Express, Silkcity Express, Commuter and Madhumati Express trains were stranded at Abdulpur and Rajshahi stations.
 
Mostak Ahmed, a railway mechanic (Mate) working at the scene, said that for now there are instructions for trains to cross the broken section at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour.

Once the full repair is completed, the speed will return to normal.
 
Station Master Masud Rana said that although speed is currently restricted, rail communication is normal.

The stranded trains are leaving for their destinations in phases.
