DHAKA, Aug 16, 2026 (BSS) - Police have arrested 72 people in a special drive across several crime-prone areas under the Tejgaon division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

The arrests were made during regular operations conducted on Saturday, according to a DMP press release.  Of those arrested, seven were apprehended in Tejgaon, nine in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, 31 in Mohammadpur, four in Adabor, five in Tejgaon Industrial Area and 16 in Hatirjheel.

Police said the suspects were arrested for their alleged involvement in various criminal activities. They were subsequently sent to court.
