DHAKA, Aug 16, 2026 (BSS) - A doa and milad mahfil was held at the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh today on the occasion of the 82nd birthday of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. The doa and milad mahfil was organised at the mosque located at the UGC Bhaban in the capital.

UGC Chairman Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed, Commission members Professor Dr Abdullah-Al-Mamun, Professor Md Mehedi Hasan Khan and Professor Dr Md Aslam Hossain, and UGC Secretary Dr Md Fakhrul Islam were present at the programme.

Dr Md Mohibul Ahsan, president of the UGC Officers' Association and additional director of the Public University Management Department, conducted the doa and milad mahfil and delivered a brief discussion.

Besides, the UGC Officers' Association general secretary and the president and general secretary of the Employees' Union, along with officers and employees of the Commission at various levels, participated in the programme.

The doa and milad mahfil included recitation of the Holy Quran, milad and a special munajat. Prayers were offered for peace, prosperity and welfare of the country and its people.
