HABIGANJ, Aug 16, 2026 (BSS) – After a three-day disruption, gas supply to 171 large and small industrial units in Habiganj resumed yesterday.
“If the supply continues, factories will gradually resume production. Gas supply to the industrial units in Habiganj became normal around 8:30am Saturday after remaining disrupted for three consecutive days,” manager of Jalalabad Gas Field Mohammad Khaled Gani said.
Engineer Mohammad Rezaul Karim, general manager of Jalalabad Gas, said the gas supply situation in the district’s transmission line is currently “fairly good.”
“We hope the supply will continue if LNG supply remains stable,” he said.
Rabbi, an administrative officer of Pioneer Denim Limited, said their factory had been receiving gas since Saturday morning, adding, “We are preparing to restart the machines and bring production back to normal.”
Liaqat Hossain, an administrative officer of Saiham Spinning Mills, said gas supply to their factory had also been normal since Saturday morning.
According to local information, more than 150,000 people are directly and indirectly engaged in the industrial units in Habiganj district.
Stakeholders hoped that the resumption of factory production would also restore workers’ employment and help normalize local markets, house rents, transportation and other businesses.
