DHAKA, Aug 15, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md Safiqul Islam Khan today said Dhaka would be transformed into a clean and modern city with the cooperation of all.

"Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has already announced plan to keep Dhaka 'clean and green' and issued necessary directives for implementing the initiative. Following the directives, Dhaka North City Corporation has started taking necessary measures in this regard," he said while inaugurating a special cleanliness drive and rally in the capital's Mirpur-2 area this morning.

Safiqul Islam Khan further said cleanliness activities are being conducted every week at schools, colleges and other educational institutions to keep Dhaka free from dengue and control mosquitoes, adding that the activities would continue.

"It is not possible for the city corporation alone to keep Dhaka clean. We need the cooperation of residents in every neighbourhood and educational institution to make the initiative a success," he added.

The DNCC Administrator urged residents to dispose of tissues, bottles and other waste in designated places, adding public awareness and cooperation could help end littering and create a cleaner, more beautiful city.

Special guest and lawmaker Sanjida Islam Tuli urged all to cooperate with the DNCC in making its cleanliness drive successful.

DNCC Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Asaduzzaman, Chief Waste Management Officer Commodore Mohammad Humayun Kabir, Chief Engineer Brigadier General Syed Rakibul Hasan and Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Imrul Kayes Chowdhury, among others attended the event.
