DHAKA, Aug 14, 2026 (BSS) - Engineers Association of Bangladesh (EAB) Convener Engineer Shahrin Islam Tuhin today called for building a strong network among educated and established people from Nilphamari to accelerate the district's development.

He said coordinated efforts by Nilphamari people living and working in different parts of the country could help improve education, healthcare and other basic services in the district.

Tuhin made the remarks as chief guest at a freshers' reception organised by the Network of Young Nilphamarians (NYN) at the RC Majumdar Auditorium on the Dhaka University campus.

Recalling Dhaka University's historic role in the country's movements, he said its students had led many important struggles throughout history.

Addressing the freshers, Tuhin said his father studied at Dhaka University in 1950 despite difficult circumstances and later pursued higher education in several countries. 

He said the experience taught him that interest, hard work and determination can help people overcome adversity and achieve success.

Tuhin said he had maintained close ties with the people of Nilphamari since 1994 and had worked to help them secure government facilities according to their needs.

He stressed the need for greater efforts to secure development opportunities for Nilphamari, saying the district should progress alongside neighbouring Thakurgaon and Dinajpur.

He urged Nilphamari people working in government and private jobs, business, education, healthcare and other sectors to join a coordinated development initiative.

"Nilphamari cannot be left behind. We must work collectively for the development of the district," he said, adding that planned cooperation among educated and established residents could bring positive changes in education, healthcare and other basic services.

Tuhin later announced a donation of Tk 1 lakh to a fund supporting Nilphamari students studying at Dhaka University.

His wife and former Dhaka University student Tamanna Zaman, speaking as a special guest, said serving humanity is a great responsibility and urged people to contribute to society regardless of their profession.

Another former Dhaka University student, Ruhul Amin, called on Nilphamari's youth to build a strong network through cooperation and regular communication. He said the network should not only connect young people but also help improve the lives of disadvantaged communities in Nilphamari and elsewhere in the country.
