DHAKA, Aug 14, 2026 (BSS) - Police have arrested 512 crime suspects in a series of operations carried out across Dhaka over the past 24 hours.

According to a Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) statement, 48 criminal cases were filed during the same period.

The statement said Ramna Division police arrested 39, 40 by Lalbagh Division, 70 by Wari Division, 71 by Motijheel Division, 47 by Tejgaon Division, 116 by Mirpur Division, 56 by Gulshan Division, 56 by Uttara Division and 17 by the detective branch (DB). 

During the drive, 16,333 pieces of yaba, 1.20 kilogram of marijuana, 50 bottles of phensidyle syrup, five mobile phone sets and cash of Tk 15,400 were seized.

The highest number of arrests was made in Mirpur Division, where 116 people were detained. 

The arrests were made during routine operations conducted in different police station areas across the capital. 

Legal proceedings against those detained are underway, DMP said.
