DHAKA, Aug 13, 2026 (BSS) - Md. Selim Khan has joined as Agriculture Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture on Wednesday, said a ministry press release. 

The release said that he was promoted to the rank of Secretary and appointed as the Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture through a notification from the Ministry of Public Administration on August 11.

Md. Selim Khan is an officer of the 18th batch of the BCS Administration Cadre. 

It is known that he was involved with the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal in the 1990s, and during his time as a student at Dhaka University's Surja Sen Hall, he had close ties with student leaders and activists of the Chhatra Dal.

Although Md. Selim Khan has served in various important and responsible positions throughout his long career, he got deprived of desired postings and promotions due to his political identity.

He served as the Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) in Patharghata Upazila of Barguna. Additionally, he served at Thakurgaon Municipality for about eight years and at the Gazipur Municipality Trust for about six years.
