RAB strengthens nationwide security ahead of Aug 15

DHAKA, Aug 13, 2026 (BSS) - The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has strengthened security measures across Bangladesh ahead of August 15, 2026, with a focus on maintaining public order, preventing violence and ensuring the safety of citizens.

As part of the special security arrangements, RAB battalions have reviewed potential security threats and prepared area-specific operational plans, according to a press release.

Sensitive locations, major gathering points and key routes have been identified with additional security measures put in place where necessary.

Intelligence surveillance has also been intensified to prevent extremist groups, banned organisations, criminal networks or other elements from exploiting political programmes to create unrest or carry out acts of sabotage.

The RAB will conduct operations under its own command while maintaining coordination, where required, with the local administration, other law-enforcement agencies and intelligence organizations, the release added.

Area-based intelligence networks and informants have also been activated to facilitate early detection of potential threats.

Plain-clothes intelligence teams have been deployed along routes leading to programme venues and in surrounding areas.

RAB is also collecting information on suspected individuals and persons linked to banned organisations as part of its preventive security efforts.

Special attention is being given to programme venues to prevent the infiltration of criminals or extremist elements and to ensure that no one can exploit public gatherings to create disorder.

RAB has further stepped up cyber patrolling to counter rumours, misinformation and provocative content on social media.

Individuals attempting to create unrest through misleading posts, comments or images will face immediate legal action, the release added.

The RAB Bomb Disposal Unit has also been kept on standby to respond promptly to any discovery of explosives or suspicious objects.

RAB said its personnel remain committed to protecting citizens, preventing crime and bringing offenders to justice through professional, coordinated and preventive action.

The force has urged the public to remain vigilant and immediately inform the nearest law-enforcement agency if they notice any suspicious person, object or activity.

RAB has reiterated its commitment to ensuring a safe and peaceful environment for the public throughout the August 15 period.
