DHAKA, Aug 13, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed has directed police officials to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against drug-related crimes, take effective measures to prevent illegal activities at hotels and spa centres, and intensify round-the-clock surveillance in areas prone to snatching.

The commissioner issued the directives at the monthly crime review meeting for July 2026 held at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh today.

"Conduct regular drives against drug dealers and their associates while strengthening intelligence operations to curb drug-related crimes," he instructed police officials. 
 
The DMP chief also ordered concerned officials to ensure that no illegal activities take place at hotels and spa centres within their respective police station areas. 

He has called for immediate legal action upon receiving information about any illegal activity, alongside regular monitoring of such establishments.

Regarding snatching, the commissioner directed the criminal division, Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit and Detective Branch (DB) to maintain a 24-hour field presence in identified snatching-prone areas.

He also called for stronger intelligence surveillance, patrols and targeted operations in crime-prone areas, with coordinated efforts to bring offenders to justice.

The DMP commissioner further directed that the officer-in-charge of the concerned police station and senior officials of the Criminal Division visit the scene of every reported case. 

He stressed the importance of on-site inspections, proper collection of evidence and thorough assessment of the circumstances surrounding incidents to ensure effective investigation and uncover the facts of each case.

The DMP chief urged field-level police officials to perform their duties with the highest degree of professionalism, responsibility and dedication to control crime and ensure the safety and security of city residents.

Senior DMP officials, including Additional Police Commissioners, Joint Police Commissioners, Deputy Police Commissioners, Additional Deputy Police Commissioners, Assistant Police Commissioners, officers-in-charge of all DMP police stations and officials of different ranks attended the meeting.
