DHAKA, Aug 13, 2026 (BSS) - The paramilitary force Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized a large quantity of smuggled goods worth around Tk63.62 lakh and 617 bottles of Indian Eskuf syrup in separate drives along the borders.

According to three separate BGB press releases issued this afternoon, Sultanpur Battalion (60 BGB) seized Indian basmati rice, energy drinks, olive oil, cattle, chocolates, an easy bike, a microbus and motorcycles in separate operations in Kasba of Brahmanbaria and Brahmanpara and Burichang of Cumilla.

Meanwhile, Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB) conducted anti-smuggling drives in several border areas from 11am on August 12 to 11am on August 13. During the operations, the battalion seized Indian blankets, vegetables, sugar, basmati rice, fruits, biri, energy drinks and liquor, as well as 1,912 kg of garlic being smuggled out of Bangladesh and six wooden boats.

The estimated value of the seized goods was Tk18,00,150, the release said.

Separately, Khulna Battalion (21 BGB) seized 617 bottles of Indian Eskuf syrup from the Daulatpur BOP area at around 5:40am today.

BGB said intelligence gathering and patrol activities would continue to prevent smuggling and drug trafficking and maintain security along the border, according to the press releases.
