CHATTOGRAM, Aug 12, 2026 (BSS)- A court here today issued arrest warrant against M.A. Sabur, former chairman of United Commercial Bank (UCB).

Chattogram Metropolitan Sessions Judge Hasanul Islam issued the warrant in a case filed by the ACC against 36 persons including Sabur on charge of embezzlement of Taka 25 crore and money laundering.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Public Prosecutor (PP) Mokarram Hossain said Sabur filed a petition seeking time in the case. But after hearing, the court rejected the petition and issued arrest warrant against him.

Other accused in the case include former Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed, his wife Rukhmila Zaman and former UCB chairman. 

There are total 92 witnesses in the case, of whom 27 have given testimony.
