RAJSHAHI, Aug 11, 2026 (BSS)- State Minister for Social Welfare Ministry
Barrister Farzana Sharmin Putul today said the flow of time couldn't rase the
memories of my late father.
It has been 10 years since accepting the truth that my father is no more.
"But the flow of time could not erase his memory. Rather, with each passing
year, the pain of loss has deepened," she said.
At the mention of father, her voice becomes heavy with the weight of
memories, tears well up in her eyes.
Speaking about that emptiness, the state minister, also the Member of
Parliament for Natore-1 constituency, became emotional. "The void of losing
my father has not faded yet," she added.
Putul said these while addressing at the memorial meeting of former minister
and senior BNP leader Fazlur Rahman Potol's 10th death anniversary as the
chief guest held this afternoon at the Lalpur Shri Sundari Pilot Model High
School field in Natore.
Remembering her father, she said, "My father was not just the guardian of our
family, he was a dearest one to countless people of Natore."
He considered standing by people in danger and working for the development of
the area as his political responsibility. He saw people's love as the
greatest achievement of his life.
Putul mentioned that his political ideals, accountability to people and
public engagement will remain an inspiration for the next generation as well.
More than a thousand leaders, activists and common people were present at the
memorial meeting.
In the reminiscences of relatives, political colleagues and long-time
followers, Fazlur Rahman Potol's long political life, his close relationship
with people and his role in the development of the area came up.
Lalpur Upazila and Gopalpur Municipal BNP and all affiliated organisations
organised this memorial meeting. It was presided over by former Member
Secretary of Lalpur Upazila BNP, Harunur Rashid Pappu.
Among the family members, Potol's youngest son Istekhar Arshad was present.
Others who spoke at the memorial meeting included Natore District BNP Member
Secretary Asaduzzaman Asad, former Senior Vice-President Advocate Ruhul Amin
Talukder Togor, Joint Convener Mizanur Rahman and others.
Mentionable that Fazlur Rahman Potol died on August 11, 2016 after suffering
from complicated kidney disease.
Even a decade after his death, the presence of people at the memorial meeting
and the emotions of relatives seemed to say - even though time passes, the
void of some people can never be filled.
