DHAKA, Aug 11, 2026 (BSS) – Four members of an alleged armed robbery gang were arrested while contriving a plan to rob a house near Hatirjheel in the capital today. 

The arrestees could be identified as Md Rakib, 32, Md Rashedul Hawladar, 27, Md Zubayer Islam, 40, and Bijoy Sarker alias Debid, 27.

Detective Branch (DB), Gulshan Division, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), recovered two foreign-made pistols, two magazines, five bullets, a toy pistol, three machetes, five cocktails, a spike dagger and two identity cards of a film shooting unit from their possessions.

Acting on secret information, DB learned that a six-member gang had planned to loot gold and other valuables from the house. 

The gang had also conducted reconnaissance of the area a day before the planned robbery.

A special DB operation with nearly 40 members led to the arrest of four gang members. 

Efforts are underway to arrest the remaining two. 

The arrested suspects have also been wanted in multiple criminal cases.
