DHAKA, Aug 11, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in separate drives today seized 100 kilograms of cannabis, 7,100 yaba tablets, and a one-shooter gun, two rounds of ammunition and 2,280 packets of Indian leaf cigarettes from different border areas of Brahmanbaria, Cox's Bazar and Kushtia.
Four people were also arrested in connection with the drives, said a BGB press release issued here today.
A patrol team of Sultanpur Battalion (60 BGB), acting on intelligence information, conducted a drive in the Kasba border area of Brahmanbaria and recovered 100kg of Indian cannabis.
The estimated value of the seized cannabis is Tk 3.50 lakh, the release said.
In Cox's Bazar, a search team of Cox's Bazar Battalion (34 BGB) conducted three separate anti-drug drives at Rezukhola Check Post and recovered 7,100 yaba tablets from CNG-run auto-rickshaws and other vehicles travelling from Teknaf towards Cox's Bazar.
Four people were arrested during the drives, while two mobile phones allegedly used in drug trafficking were also seized.
Meanwhile, a patrol team of Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) recovered an unclaimed one-shooter gun and two rounds of ammunition during a drive in the Manikerchar area.
In another drive, the team recovered 2,280 packets of Indian leaf cigarettes.
The estimated value of the seized arms, ammunition and smuggled goods is Tk 1,35,800, the release said.
