DHAKA, Aug 11, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested 25 people in separate special drives in Mugda and Khilkhet areas of the capital, while a traffic sergeant, with help from the public, caught a suspected snatcher red-handed in Motijheel.

Mugda police arrested 15 people and Khilkhet police arrested 10 during special operations on Monday in crime-prone areas, according to a press release of DMP.

The detainees were allegedly involved in various offences, including regular cases.

Legal proceedings against them are underway.

In a separate incident, Traffic Motijheel Division Sergeant Md Sahadat Mir arrested Md Raju, 26, while he was fleeing after allegedly snatching an earring from a woman near Shapla Chattar at around 7:00pm on Monday.

The stolen earring was recovered and returned to the victim.

Raju was handed over to Motijheel Model Police Station for further legal action.
