CHATTOGRAM, Aug 10, 2026 (BSS) - The Coast Guard has recovered 250,000 contraband yaba tablets in a special operation at the outer anchorage of Chattogram port.
Two drug traffickers were detained and a boat was seized. The market value of the recovered yaba is estimated at Taka 12.5 crore.
Based on secret information, members of Coast Guard ship Kutubdia and Outpost Patenga carried out the special operation, code named "Operation Shomudro Prohara," in the sea area off the outer anchorage of Chattogram port last night. After searching the team recovered a consignment of 250,000 contraband yaba tablets.
Coast Guard media officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan confirmed this today.
He said the syndicate had long been procuring yaba from Myanmar and trafficking it into Chattogram.
Legal proceedings are underway.
He added that the Coast Guard would continue such operations in the future to curb the spread of drugs.
