DHAKA, Aug 10, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today rejected the bail pleas of six people, including Notun Dhara Bangladesh (NDB) Chairman Momin Mehedi and its Senior Vice Chairman Shanta Farzana, in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain passed the order after holding hearing on the plea filed by the defence.

The four other accused in the case are: NDB vice chairman Nurjahan Nira, joint secretary general Moniruzzaman and organizing secretaries Aftab Mondol and Hari Sarkar.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Kamal Uddin sent the six to jail on August 5.

One Babul Sardar on August 4 filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station.

According to the case statement, the accused are alleged to be collaborators of the Awami League and involved in conspiracies against the incumbent government.

At around 7pm on August 4, the accused were chanting provocative slogans and holding a procession in front of the National Press Club. When Babul Sarker and Al Nur Mohammad Ayash, member secretary of the State Dialogue Forum, along with several activists of the July movement, protested against the procession, the accused allegedly attacked them with local weapons, sticks, SS pipes, chairs and hockey sticks.

Several people, including Ayash, were injured in the attack. Ayash was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
