Six AL activists remanded in Anti-Terrorism Act case

DHAKA, Aug 8, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today placed six activists of Awami League (AL) on a three-day remand each in a case lodged under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The six accused are Md Mehedi Masud Chowdhury, SM Rezwan Habib Alif, Md Nannu Miah, Md Aminur Rahman, Sajal Ahmed and Md Ibrahim Hossain.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rakibul Hasan passed the order as police produced the accused before the court and pleaded to place them on a seven-day remand each.

According to the case documents, the accused allegedly attempted to hold a meeting at the food court of Police Plaza Concord in Gulshan-1 on August 7 to tarnish the image of the government and hatch a conspiracy against it. Police raided the venue and detained them.

Later, a case was filed against the six with Gulshan Police Station under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
