DHAKA, Aug 6, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized narcotics and various smuggled goods worth around Tk 3.63 crore in separate anti-smuggling drives conducted in different border areas.

According to BGB press releases, Feni Battalion (4 BGB) conducted special operations in the border areas of Parshuram, Chhagalnaiya and Fulgazi in Feni district today and seized Indian cannabis, spectacles, sarees, three-piece dresses, cattle, medicines, cosmetics, chocolates and biscuits worth about Tk 90 lakh.

Meanwhile, acting on intelligence inputs, Lalmonirhat Battalion (15 BGB) carried out two separate operations and seized 355 bottles of Indian Eskap syrup, six kilograms of Indian cannabis and a 150cc Pulsar motorcycle with a combined seizure value of Tk 313,000.

BGB said suspected smugglers fled across the border into India after abandoning the contraband during an operation at Purba Amjhol under Hatibandha upazila, leaving behind 355 bottles of Eskap syrup.

In another drive at Madhyatari under Phulbari upazila in Kurigram district, BGB personnel recovered six kilograms of Indian cannabis concealed inside the fuel tank and seat of an abandoned motorcycle, which was also seized.

In a separate operation, Naikhongchhari Battalion (11 BGB) recovered 89,916 Myanmar-made yaba tablets abandoned by smugglers during a special anti-narcotics drive at Jaruliachhari in Naikhongchhari upazila of Cox's Bazar on Wednesday night.

According to the BGB release, the smugglers fled into nearby forested areas after dropping a bag containing the yaba tablets upon sensing the presence of BGB personnel.

The recovered consignment comprised 89,016 yellow and 900 green yaba tablets with an estimated market value of Tk 2.69748 crore.

BGB said the seized goods were being handed over to the local police stations and customs authorities for further legal action.

The border force added that it would continue intelligence-based operations to prevent drug trafficking, smuggling, human trafficking and other cross-border crimes while maintaining strict vigilance along the frontier.
