DHAKA, Aug 6, 2026 (BSS) - Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain today directed the authorities concerned to promptly repair roads damaged by recent heavy rainfall and waterlogging in the city.
"Our priority is to reduce public suffering and ensure normal communication. No negligence or substandard work in development projects will be tolerated and every project must be implemented on time maintaining the prescribed standards without delay," he said.
The mayor issued the directives while visiting important roads and ongoing development projects from Tiger-pass to Oxygen, Ward No. 1 South Pahartali, and then to Ward No. 41 Patenga.
During the inspection, he instructed the engineers and other responsible officials concerned to take immediate action.
Inspecting the under-construction roundabout at Oxygen intersection, the mayor directed the executive engineer to complete the construction work without delay.
He also instructed the acting chief executive officer and secretary to ensure the quick removal of accumulated garbage from the islands of major roads and to strengthen planned tree plantation and beautification activities there.
"Our goal is to build a clean, green, healthy, safe and smart Chattogram through coordinated initiatives in cleanliness, road development, greening, beautification and improvement of civic services," he said.
He also directed the officials concerned to remain regularly present in the field to supervise development activities and ensure citizen-friendly services.
CCC Acting Chief Executive Officer and Secretary Md Ashraful Amin, Chief Conservancy Officer Captain Ikhtiar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Chief Engineer Anisur Rahman, and other officials were present during the inspection.
