SYLHET, August 6, 2026 (BSS) – Labour and Employment and Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury today arranged a special prayers and distributed ‘shirni’ to mark the 42nd death anniversary of former Bangladesh Navy Chief Rear Admiral Mahbub Ali Khan.
The programme was held after Zohr prayers at the Hazrat Shahjalal (R) Dargah Mosque in Sylhet city here.
Following the prayers, Ariful Haque Chowdhury personally distributed ‘shirni’ among devotees and members of the public gathered on the shrine premises.
Speaking on the occasion, the participants paid rich tributes to the late Rear Admiral Mahbub Ali Khan, recalling his contributions to the country, and offered special prayers seeking eternal peace for his departed soul.
Among others, BNP Central Committee Secretary for Microcredit Affairs and valiant freedom fighter Abdur Razzak, Sylhet Metropolitan BNP Vice-President Sadikur Rahman Sadik, Sylhet District BNP Adviser Abdus Shukur, District BNP Joint Organising Secretary Badsha Ahmed, BNP leader Jurez Abdullah Golzar, Gowainghat Upazila BNP President Mahbub Alam and Gowainghat Upazila Jubo Dal Convener Advocate Shahjahan Siddiqui attended the programme.
Local political leaders, eminent citizens, worshippers of the Dargah Mosque and people from different walks of life were also present there.
