DHAKA, Aug 6, 2026 (BSS0 - Bangladesh Police has begun preparations to deploy a 125-member Formed Police Unit (FPU) with one SWAT platoon to a United Nations peacekeeping mission within the next two months.

To facilitate the deployment, a nine-member committee has been formed to prepare and verify the required vehicles, equipment, self-sustainment items, and other logistical materials, according to an order recently issued by the Internal Operations Branch of Bangladesh Police Headquarters.

The order states that the committee has been constituted to ensure compliance with the UN Department of Peace Operations' Rapid Deployment Level (RDL) requirements under the Peacekeeping Capability Readiness System (PCRS). 

The committee will assess whether the necessary major equipment and self-sustainment capabilities for the FPU and SWAT platoon are in place and recommend measures to address any gaps.

Deputy Inspector General (Finance) Md. Atikur Rahman has been appointed as the committee's chairman.

The committee members include Additional DIGs Nasima Akter, Ashrafuzzaman, and Md. Abdullah Al-Mamun of Police Headquarters, Superintendent of Police Md. Humayun Kabir of KPH, Assistant Inspectors General A.H.M. Yahadul Islam and Dr. Masura Begum of Police Headquarters, Superintendent of Police Shahriar Bin Saleh of Police Telecom and Deputy Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Md. Jahed Parvez Chowdhury.

According to the order, the committee will conduct a comprehensive inspection of the finalized vehicles, major equipment, self-sustainment items, and other operational materials, while determining any additional requirements.

The committee has also been tasked with taking necessary steps to procure or collect any required major equipment and self-sustainment items within the next two months.

In addition, it will oversee preparations for the UN's Rapid Deployment Level (RDL) Verification Visit, prepare the Complete Cargo Load List (CLL), and arrange SWAT training and selection tests to include qualified personnel in the standby Formed Police Unit.

The order was issued with the approval of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir and was signed by Additional DIG Md. Abdullah Al-Mamun of Bangladesh Police Headquarters.
