SHERPUR, Aug 6, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized a large consignment of smuggled Indian medicines from Panihata border area in Nalitabari upazila of the district in the early hours of today.
The operation was carried out by a BGB patrol team following a tip-off about an attempt to smuggle medicines illegally from India.
According to a press release issued by the Mymensingh Battalion (BGB-39) this afternoon, the smugglers fled the scene after sensing the presence of BGB personnel, leaving behind the consignment of medicines, which was later recovered from an abandoned location.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Nurul Amin Bayezid, Commanding Officer of Mymensingh Battalion said the estimated market value of the seized medicines is Taka 81,20,800.
