DHAKA, Aug 6, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 466 people in a citywide anti-crime drive over the past 24 hours and filed 57 cases as part of its regular operations across the capital.
According to a DMP press release, the arrests included 115 suspects from Mirpur Division, 74 from Motijheel, 59 from Wari, 53 from Tejgaon, 52 from Uttara, 43 from Gulshan, 30 from Ramna, 28 from Lalbagh, 11 by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit, and one by the Detective Branch (DB).
During the operations, police recovered a cache of vehicles, electronic devices, narcotics and suspected counterfeit government materials.
The seized items included one jeep, one motorcycle, one auto-rickshaw, a water meter, a laptop, two CPUs, a hard disk, a monitor, 21 mobile phones, 135 SIM cards, 41 seals bearing the names and signatures of the Prime Minister, ministers, lawmakers and other senior officials, and 320 pages of official letterhead pads.
Law enforcers also recovered 1.25 kg of cannabis, 6,658 yaba tablets, 70 litres of locally made liquor and 60 buprenorphine injections during the drives.
The DMP said the suspects were arrested in separate operations across different police station areas of the capital, and legal proceedings against them are underway.
