DHAKA, Aug 4, 2026 (BSS) - The 'Book Reading Programme-2026' or 'Boi Pora Karmosuchi-2026' was

launched in Brahmanbaria today with the aim of developing reading habits among students and building

an enlightened society based on human values.

Deputy Commissioner Md. Abu Saeed inaugurated the programme at Brahmanbaria High School and

highlighted the importance of reading literature, history and science books alongside textbooks to

enhance students' knowledge, creativity and intellectual growth.

The programme is being implemented by the district administration in line with the directive of

"Read books, build the country" and with the cooperation of book readers' organisation 'O Aa Ka

Kha'.

Students from schools, colleges and madrasas across the district will participate in the competition

in three categories.

After reading selected books on Bangla literature, the Liberation War, history, science and

biographies, participants will compete through written, oral, book presentation and analysis

assessments.

The best 15 students from each upazila will qualify for the district-level competition.

Prizes will be awarded to category-wise winners, while certificates will be given to all district-

level participants.

Seven special sub-committees under the district administration will supervise the programme to

ensure transparency and accountability.
