DHAKA, Aug 4, 2026 (BSS) - The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized five sacks of Bangladeshi fertiliser and arrested a Forcibly Displaced Myanmar National (FDMN) individual while the consignment was being smuggled to Myanmar through the Teknaf frontier.
The seizure was made during a special operation conducted by a patrol team of Dumdumia Border Outpost (BOP) under Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB), according to a BGB press release issued here today.
Acting on intelligence information, the patrol took up a strategic position near the Jadimura border post along the Naf River in the early hours of Monday.
At around 4:30 am, the patrol intercepted a manually operated wooden boat heading from Bangladesh to Myanmar and arrested the individual. The boat was searched, leading to the seizure of five sacks of Bangladeshi fertiliser.
The release said legal procedures are underway to hand over the arrested person to Teknaf Model Police Station, while the seized fertiliser will be deposited with the Teknaf Customs Office.
Commanding Officer of Teknaf Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Md Hanifur Rahman Bhuiyan said BGB remains vigilant in preventing the smuggling of goods from Bangladesh to Myanmar as well as the infiltration of narcotics and other contraband into Bangladesh.
He said intelligence surveillance, regular patrols and special operations along the border will continue.
