DHAKA, Aug 3, 2026 (BSS) - The Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) has provided a two-day hands-on training programme on fire safety and emergency response for members of the Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB), aiming to strengthen journalists' safety awareness and disaster preparedness.

A total of 48 CRAB members participated in the training, held on August 2-3 at the Fire Service headquarters in Dhaka, according a press release of the FSCD.

The programme was inaugurated by Director General of Fire Service and Civil Defence Brigadier General Muhammad Jahed Kamal, who underscored the importance of equipping journalists with practical knowledge to ensure their safety while covering emergencies and disasters.

Participants received practical training on firefighting techniques, emergency rescue operations, first aid, earthquake preparedness and personal safety measures for journalists during news coverage.

Among others present at the inaugural ceremony were Director (Training, Planning and Development) Lt Col MA Azad Anwar, Deputy Director of Dhaka Division Md Saleh Uddin, Assistant Director (Training) Md Mostafa Mohsin, and CRAB General Secretary M M Badsha.

The training concluded on August 3, with Lt Col MA Azad Anwar distributing certificates among the participants at the closing ceremony.
