DHAKA, July 30, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested 67 people in separate operations across the Tejgaon Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) over the past 24 hours.
In another drive, traffic police also recovered a snatched mobile phone and detained a suspected snatcher following a swift chase in the capital.
According to DMP's Tejgaon Division, the 67 suspects were arrested during regular drives conducted in crime-prone areas under its jurisdiction.
The arrestees include six from Tejgaon Police Station, 10 from Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, 21 from Mohammadpur Police Station, 17 from Adabor Police Station, five from Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station, and eight from Hatirjheel Police Station.
All the arrested individuals have been produced before the appropriate courts for further legal proceedings, police said.
In a separate incident, the Traffic-Lalbag Division of DMP recovered a snatched mobile phone and arrested the alleged snatcher through prompt action at Fulbaria on Thursday afternoon.
The arrested suspect was identified as Sujan Mia, 22.
According to police, at around 1:20 pm, a traffic sergeant stationed at the Fulbaria Crossing heard a woman crying for help after a man allegedly snatched her mobile phone and fled the scene.
The sergeant immediately chased the suspect and managed to detain him in the Siddique Bazar area.
The victim's mobile phone was recovered from the suspect's possession and returned to its rightful owner.
The suspect was later handed over to Banshal Police Station, where legal action is underway.
