DHAKA, July 30, 2026 (BSS) – The Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) yesterday organized a seminar on the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), chemical safety and future career prospects for its students. 

The seminar was held under the supervision of Bangladesh National Authority for the Chemical Weapons Convention (BNACWC), where the first-year students of the Department of Chemistry of MIST participated, said an ISPR press release here today.

Highlighting the importance of chemical safety, security and dual-use risks, the speakers said chemical safety is not only a legal obligation but also an ethical responsibility for future engineers.

They also discussed the wide-ranging career opportunities for chemistry graduates at home and abroad, particularly in the pharmaceutical, agricultural and international sectors.

BNACWC Member Secretary and Armed Forces Division official Commodore Md Monir Uddin Mallik attended the closing session as the chief guest and delivered remarks.

He underscored the need for building a safe and prosperous chemical industry and thanked the Department of Chemistry and MIST authorities for successfully organising the seminar.

The seminar concluded with BNACWC’s commitment to promoting chemical awareness and ensuring safety standards in educational institutions across the country.
