DHAKA, July 30, 2026 (BSS) - The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) today announced a budget of Taka 40.046 billion for fiscal year 2026–27.

DSCC Administrator Freedom Fighter Md. Abdus Salam unveiled the budget at the Nagar Bhaban auditorium here.

The budget was approved at the 14th meeting of the DSCC Management Committee on July 26. The original budget for fiscal year 2025–26 was Taka 38.4138 billion, while the revised budget stood at Taka 31.3877 billion.

Including the opening balance, the total projected receipts for FY27 have been set at Taka 40.046 billion. The budget comprises an opening balance of Taka 7.3093 billion, a revenue collection target of Taka 18.1574 billion and a development income target of Taka 14.5793 billion.

On the expenditure side, the budget allocated Taka 15.5968 billion for operational and capital expenditures, Taka 19.0442 billion for the development activities and projects a closing balance of Taka 5.405 billion.

In his budget speech, the Administrator said the corporation had opted for a realistic and implementable budget instead of an overly ambitious one.

“We have prepared a practical and rational budget for the FY27. No additional tax burden has been imposed on city residents. Instead, new revenue sources have been identified to enhance the corporation’s own income, while unnecessary expenditures have been curtailed where appropriate,” he said.

Salam said the budget prioritizes balanced development across the DSCC zones, waterlogging mitigation, dengue control, environmental pollution reduction, improvements to roads and traffic management and the enhancement of civic services.

“The FY27 budget has been formulated as a step toward realizing a ‘Clean City, Green City’ by giving the highest priority on improving the quality of life and services for residents,” he added.

Addressing city residents, the administrator said the budget was not merely an account of income and expenditure but a reflection of the trust and responsibility entrusted by the taxpayers.

“We are committed to ensuring that every penny of this budget is spent with the highest standards of transparency, accountability and efficiency for the welfare of the people,” he said.

He also sought the cooperation and participation of the government, the Local Government Division, public and private institutions, development partners, the media, civil society, the business community and the residents of the DSCC in implementing the budget.
