DHAKA, July 29, 2026 (BSS) - Additional Inspector General (Crime and Operations) Khondoker Rafiqul Islam today directed field-level police officers to ensure proper investigation of every case so that offenders are brought to justice.
"Every case must be investigated properly to ensure that criminals are brought under the law. All concerned must remain vigilant so that crime does not increase," he said.
He issued the directive while presiding over the monthly crime review meeting for June 2026, held virtually from the Police Headquarters, according to a press release.
Islam instructed police officials to give priority to the prompt and thorough investigation of murder, rape, robbery and abduction cases to ensure their speedy disposal.
The meeting reviewed the overall crime situation across the country during June, including major incidents.
Officials also discussed the progress of investigations, pending arrest warrants, trial outcomes and conviction rates, with a focus on strengthening crime control and improving the quality of investigations.
Senior officials from metropolitan police units, the Special Branch (SB), Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Tourist Police, Highway Police, APBN, Railway Police, police ranges and districts joined the meeting virtually.
Deputy Inspectors General (Crime Management) Mohammad Abu Sufian and DIG (Operations) Md Rezaul Karim, along with other senior officials, attended in Police Headquarters.
