DHAKA, July 29, 2026 (BSS) - The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) has realized additional revenue of Tk 19,13,440.57 after detecting excess quantities of imported goods in a consignment at its Chattogram Regional Office.
Acting on confidential information, officials of the CIID physically examined an import consignment of Rainbow Corporation covered under Bill of Entry No. C-1138706, dated July 5, 2026.
During the inspection, the declared quantity of chocolate was found to be 7,132.25 kg, against the declared 6,704.56 kg, while the quantity of wafer was 2,684.88 kg, compared to the declared 2,572.16 kg.
The examination revealed an excess of 540.41 kg over the declared weight, representing 5.83 percent more than the declared net weight, said an NBR press release.
Following adjudication of the case, the authorities realised Tk 8,13,440.57 in additional customs duties and taxes, imposed a Tk 10,00,000 fine and a Tk 1,00,000 redemption fine.
In total, the government realised Tk 19,13,440.57 in additional revenue from the consignment.
