DHAKA, July 29, 2026 (BSS) - The traffic division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today filed 2,465 cases against vehicles for violating trafficrules in the capital.

The cases were filed as part of the DMP's regular enforcement campaign carried out on Tuesday (July 28) aimed at ensuring traffic discipline, reducing congestion and improving road safety across the city, according to a media and public relations division issued here today.

The DMP said such drives against traffic law violators will continue, urging motorists and pedestrians alike to comply with traffic regulations to help maintain order on the roads.

The DMP traffic police dumped 537 motor vehicles and towed 188 vehicles during the campaign, it said.

According to a media spokesperson of the DMP, the Traffic-Ramna Division filed 146 cases, including 14 against buses, one truck, eight covered vans, 18 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 46 motorcycles while 194 cases were filed by the Traffic-Lalbagh Division including against 14 buses, eight trucks, twocovered vans, 15 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 122 motorcycles.

In addition, Traffic-Motijheel Division filed 322 cases, against 46 buses, three trucks, 18 covered vans, 52 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 147 motorcycles while the Traffic-Wari Division filed 285 cases, including against 42 buses, 41 trucks, 35 covered vans, 22 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 66 motorcycles, the spokesperson added. 

Meanwhile, the Traffic-Tejgaon Division filed 291 cases, including against 24 buses, three trucks, 12 covered vans, 55 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 126 motorcycles while the Traffic-Mirpur Division filed 589 cases, including against 43 buses, 44 trucks, 39 covered vans, 45 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 331 motorcycles, he said. 

Besides, the Traffic-Gulshan Division filed 256 cases, including against 17 buses, three trucks, 13 covered vans, 43 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 87 
motorcycles Traffic-Uttara division registered 382 cases including against 65 buses, 13 trucks, 17 covered vans, 50 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 122 
motorcycles, the sources further said.

The drives were conducted as part of the DMP's ongoing efforts to enforce traffic laws and ensure discipline on the city's roads, the DMP release 
added.
