DHAKA, July 29, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 1.20 lakh Yaba tablets worth an estimated Tk 3.60 crore and arrested an alleged drug trafficker during a special operation along the Ukhiya border in Cox's Bazar.

According to a BGB press release issued today, a special patrol team from Balukhali Border Outpost (BOP) under Ukhiya Battalion (64 BGB) conducted the drive at around 10:30 pm on Tuesday in the Dakshin Rahmater Bil area, acting on intelligence inputs.

During the operation, the patrol spotted a man entering Bangladesh from Myanmar through a river route carrying a sack on his head. When challenged, he attempted to flee but was chased and apprehended by BGB personnel.

The arrested man was identified as Md Manzur Ali, 40, son of Md Anwar Ali, a resident of Dakshin Rahmater Bil village under Ukhiya upazila in Cox's Bazar.

A search of the sack led to the recovery of 12 cartons containing 1.20 lakh Yaba tablets concealed in khaki-coloured packets.

During preliminary interrogation, the detainee admitted that he had purchased the Yaba tablets from across the Myanmar border and was transporting them to sell in Bangladesh at a higher price, the release said.
