DHAKA, July 28, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan today called on young people to engage in innovation and cleanliness activities, saying students' participation would help implement the Prime Minister's "Clean Dhaka, Green Dhaka" programme more effectively.

Speaking as the chief guest at the prize-giving ceremony of the "Startup Science Project and Innovation Idea Showcasing Program" and the inauguration of a cleanliness campaign at Bangladesh Navy BN College in the capital's Mirpur-14 area, he said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is a humane leader and positive changes would come to Bangladesh under his leadership. 

He added that everyone is continuing to contribute to nation-building as his colleagues.

The DNCC Administrator said involving students in cleanliness drives and public welfare activities would make it easier to implement the Prime Minister's "Clean Dhaka, Green Dhaka" programme.

He said the prize-giving ceremony was arranged to ensure the participation of school and college students and to encourage other educational institutions through their involvement.

Shafiqul said initiatives would be taken to expand such programmes across different parts of the city to raise public awareness and make city corporation services and civic facilities more accessible to people.

At the programme, he praised the innovative talents of the Navy College students as well as their musical and dance performances. 

He said success is achievable through sincere efforts and that the students' innovative ideas would be spread across every ward and neighbourhood of the city to support the goal of building a cleaner city.

After the prize distribution, a colourful rally, joined by students from Navy College, Dental College and Navy School, was brought out. 

During the rally, awareness was created about the proper use of modern dustbins and the students took part in the cleanliness campaign.

BN College Principal Captain M. Ismail Majumder presided over the function. 

DNCC Chief Waste Management Officer Commodore Humayun Kabir, teachers, students and media personnel were present.
