DHAKA, July 27, 2026 (BSS) - The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) has been reorganised.

The reconstituted 10-member committee has been given the responsibility of its chairman to Zainul Abedin, MP from the Barishal-3 constituency, said a press release of the JS Secretariat today.

The release said that the committee was reorganised during the second session of the JS held on July 13, in accordance with Article 76 of the Constitution of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and Rules 246, 247, and 248 of the Rules of Procedure of Parliament.

The 10-member committee was formed on the basis of a proposal by the Chief Whip.

The Adviser/Minister in charge of the Ministry of Home Affairs will be an ex-officio member of the committee.

The other members of the committee are Mir Shahe Alam, MP from Bogura-2; Rokibul Islam, MP from Khulna-3 ; Nuruddin Ahmed Apu, MP from Shariatpur-3; Md. Kamruzzaman, MP from Munshiganj-3; Md. Monowar Hossain, MP from Magura-1; Shirin Sultana, MP from Reserved Women's Seat-2; Md. Nurul Islam, MP from Chapainawabganj-3; and Md. Abdul Baten, MP from Dhaka-16 constituency.

According to parliamentary procedure, this standing committee will be responsible for reviewing various activities of the Ministry of Home Affairs, making recommendations on policies and action plans, reviewing laws and regulations, and exercising parliamentary oversight over the overall functions of the ministry.
