Minu lays foundation stone for indoor stadium in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, July 25, 2026 (BSS)- The foundation stone for a modern indoor 
stadium has been laid in a scenic area of the metropolis on the initiative of 
the Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC). 

"This stadium will play an important role in building a modern and prosperous 
metropolis," Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, said while speaking as 
the chief guest at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Rajshahi 
Indoor Stadium opposite the Rajshahi Boalia Club this afternoon.
 
Highly praising the current activities of RCC, he said currently the 
development activities of Rajshahi City Corporation are at the most advanced 
level in Bangladesh. 

He also mentioned that the law and order situation in Rajshahi is much more 
beautiful and well-organized than any other metropolis in the country.
 
Minu said all the lands under the Ministry of Land in the Rajshahi 
metropolitan area will be ensured to be handed over very quickly for various 
development activities of the City Corporation.
 
Through this, the development activities of the metropolis will be further 
accelerated.
 
The chief guest said Rajshahi will be built as a popular and prosperous 
metropolis in accordance with the visionary thinking and aspirations of Prime 
Minister Tarique Rahman. 

The main goal of the current administration is to transform Rajshahi, which 
was previously built as a beautiful city, into an even more beautiful 
metropolis and to ensure all modern amenities for its citizens.
 
The event was presided over by the Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation 
Mahfuzur Rahman Riton. 

Present at the ceremony were Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner Foyzul 
Kabir, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sabur Ali, Secretary of Rajshahi City 
Corporation Sohel Rana and Superintending Engineers Khairul Baker and Ahmad 
Al Moeen Parag.

Among others, officials of the divisional and district administration, 
political leaders and journalists were present.
 
Later, in the indoor stadium premises, the Land Minister planted a Bakul tree 
sapling while the RCC Administrator planted an Almond tree sapling and the 
RMP Commissioner planted a Neem tree sapling.
 
It is worth mentioning that with the overall cooperation of the Rajshahi 
Divisional and District Administration, this stadium will be constructed on 
0.3100 acres of land at a cost of Taka 89.06 lakh from the own fund of the 
Rajshahi City Corporation.

This indoor stadium will create modern facilities for basketball and various 
other indoor sports.
