Truthful, verified info is journalists' greatest responsibility: PIB DG

CHANDPUR, July 25, 2026 (BSS) - Director General (DG) of Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) Faruk Wasif today said presenting truthful and verified 
information is the greatest responsibility of a journalist, stressing that credibility is a reporter's most valuable asset.

"A journalist can become a trusted news source in his or her own right by upholding honesty, professional competence and ethical standards," he said 
while addressing the closing ceremony of a three-day training workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and fact-checking at Chandpur Press Club here 
today. 

Faruk Wasif said, "Journalism is evolving rapidly with the advancement of technology. Journalists must also continuously develop their skills to keep 
pace with these changes."

The workshop, held from July 23 to 25, was organised to enhance the professional skills of journalists working in Chandpur, promote the effective 
use of modern technology and strengthen their fact-checking capabilities.

Faruk Wasif said PIB, as the country's central training institution for journalists, has been introducing training programmes on emerging issues in 
line with the changing needs of the profession.

A total of 35 journalists from print, television and online media outlets across Chandpur district took part in the training.

Chaired by Chandpur Press Club President Sohel Rushdi, the closing ceremony was also addressed by Chandpur Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Ziaur Rahman. 

Chandpur Press Club General Secretary MA Latif conducted the event.

PIB trainer Zilhaz Uddin Nipun, leaders of the Chandpur Press Club, senior 
journalists, trainers and participating journalists were present at the 
programme.
