DHAKA, July 25, 2026 (BSS) - Nasser Rahman, MP, and Ahmed Yusuf Walid have been elected president and vice-president respectively of the Bangladesh International Hotel Association (BIHA) for the 2026-2028 term.
The BIHA Election Board declared them elected along with five directors as the number of valid candidates was equal to the number of elective posts, according to an official election notice issued today.
Nasser Rahman, Managing Director of Dusai Hotel & Resorts Limited, was declared elected president, while Ahmed Yusuf Walid, Managing Director of Gateway Hospitality and Realty Management Limited (The Way Dhaka), was elected vice-president.
The Election Board made the declaration in accordance with Rule 24(1) of the Trade Organizations Rules, 2025.
Five other hospitality industry leaders were declared elected as directors of the association for the 2026-2028 term.
They are Major Md Shawkat Hossain (Retd.), Director of Maple Leaf Hotels & Resort Ltd; Arifur Rahman, Managing Director of The Palace Luxury Resort (Green Planet); Ahmed Hossain, Director of Fars Hotel & Resorts Ltd; Saeed Ahmed, Managing Director of Quality Hospitality Limited (Q Hotel Dhaka); and Rashed Mahmud, Managing Director of Grace Cox Hotel & Resorts (Pvt.) Limited.
The election results were formally endorsed by the three-member BIHA Election Board headed by its Chairman Shorif Mostafizur Rahman, who is also a Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce.
Md Sirajul Islam, Deputy Controller at the Ministry of Commerce, and Md Mehedi Hasan, Senior Assistant Secretary at the ministry, served as members of the Election Board.
BIHA represents stakeholders in Bangladesh's hotel and hospitality industry and works to advance the sector's interests, including promoting service standards and supporting the development of the country's tourism and hospitality industry.
