Khelafat Majlis leaves 11-party alliance

DHAKA, July 25, 2026 (BSS) - Khelafat Majlis today announced that the party has left 11-party alliance as there was no need of the election-time alliance after the end of the parliamentary election in February last.

“As there is no post-election effectiveness of the 11-party electoral alliance, the party (Khelafat Majlis) will refrain from all activities and programmes of the alliance from now,” a release of the party said.

However, the party stated that efforts to build a broader national unity will continue in the future if required for the interest of the country, nation, and Islam.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Khelafat Majlis's Central Majlis-e-Shura held today at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) auditorium in the city, the release said.

The resolution adopted at the meeting stated that the 11-party alliance was primarily an electoral understanding.

With the conclusion of the elections, the effectiveness of the alliance has practically come to an end, it said.

The release said, Khelafat Majlis's Member of Parliament will continue to play role as an opposition member in Parliament.

The session began at 9 am, presided over by Khelafat Majlis Amir Maulana Abdul Basit Azad and conducted by the party's Secretary General Dr Ahmad Abdul Kader.
