DHAKA, Jul 23, 2026 (BSS)- Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Barrister Kayser Kamal today said that teachers must change their mindset to improve the quality of primary education.

“To improve the quality of primary education, teachers must change their mindset and look after all the students with equal care and give them importance like their own children,” he said.

The deputy speaker made this remark while speaking as the chief guest at a reception accorded for the students, who secured the primary school scholarship-2025 at the Kalmakanda Upazila Parishad auditorium this afternoon.

With Kalmakanda Upazila Nirbahi Officer (Additional Duty) Md. Shamsuzzaman Asfi in the chair,Deputy Director of Primary Education Md. Rafiqul Islam Talukder,Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT)Munmun Jahan Liza and District Primary Education Officer Md. Shahidul Azam joined the event as special guest.

The deputy speaker emphasized that the mindset and values of young learners are shaped by their primary school teachers, who must therefore act with greater responsibility and sincerity.

Highlighting various government initiatives, he noted that the government is modernizing and enriching primary education by distributing free books, bags, and shoes, while also increasing teachers’ salaries, allowances, and pensions.
 
“Despite these facilities, many schools are still failing to achieve the desired outcomes or ensure regular student attendance,” he said.

In this context, he observed that classroom presence must be treated as a top priority.

At the event, he administered an oath to the scholarship recipients, who pledged to excel in their studies and contribute to nation-building as worthy citizens.

On behalf of the awardees, students Maliha Mali and Abid Hasan expressed their feelings.

A total of 53 students have secured scholarship in talent pool and 41 in general grade categores in the Primary Scholarship Exams-2025 from the upazila this year.
