Rain likely across country; Cox's Bazar records highest rainfall

DHAKA, July 23, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecast light to moderately heavy rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds in different parts of the country over the next 24 hours beginning at 9:00 am.

According to a Met Office bulletin issued this morning, light to moderately heavy rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds are likely at most places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.

The bulletin said heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at places over Barishal and Chattogram divisions.

Day temperatures may fall slightly, while night temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged across the country.

The highest temperature recorded on Wednesday was 35 degrees Celsius in Sylhet, while today's minimum temperature was 23.5 degrees Celsius in Narayanganj.

During the last 24 hours until 6:00 am today, the highest rainfall of 76 millimetres was recorded in Cox's Bazar.

The sun will set in Dhaka at 6:46 pm today and rise at 5:24 am tomorrow.
