DMP files 2,719 cases for traffic law violations in city

DHAKA, July 22, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 2,719 cases against traffic law violators during drives conducted in different parts of the capital.

According to the DMP media and public relations division, during the drives, police also dumped 587 vehicles and towed away 328 others.

It said the highest number of cases 456 was filed by the Motijheel Traffic Division, followed by Uttara division 449, Tejgaon with 390, Mirpur 397, Gulshan with 347, Wari 299, Lalbagh 200 and Ramna 181.

The DMP said that drives were conducted across different areas of the capital on Tuesday (July 21).

It said that traffic division would continue such enforcement drives to maintain traffic discipline in the metropolitan area.
