DHAKA, July 19, 2026 (BSS) - Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir departed here for Thailand today to participate in a high-level regional summit on "Scam Center Compounds and Transnational Organized Crime," aimed at strengthening cross-border cooperation against increasingly sophisticated criminal networks, according to a press release of the Police Headquarters.
The summit, scheduled for July 20-21 in Bangkok, is being organised by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in collaboration with the Royal Thai Police.
The meeting will bring together police chiefs, intelligence leaders and senior law enforcement officials from across the Asia-Pacific region to discuss coordinated operational responses, intelligence-sharing, regional strategies and joint actions to combat scam center compounds and transnational organised crime.
On the sidelines of the summit, the Bangladesh police chief will hold bilateral talks with the Chief of the Royal Thai Police on issues of mutual interest and avenues for enhancing law enforcement cooperation.
The IGP is scheduled to return to Bangladesh on July 22.
